Current student, Sharon Gordon, was awarded the Penland School of Crafts Award for her piece "Fall Beginnings."
Judges for the event were Neal Howard, Kathrin Weber Scott, and Liz Spear, all graduates of the HCC Professional Crafts-Fiber program.
The 2006 Blue Ridge Handweaving Show was held at the John M. Crawford Gallery, Walker Arts Center at Asheville School. The show will be open to the public through November 17. Hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The purpose of the Blue Ridge Handweaving Show is to encourage and support booth amateur and professional handloom weavers at all levels and to increase public awareness of their work. Award winning entries will be shown at the Grove Arcade Arts & Heritage Gallery at a later date.
