HCC to Host Logger Training
The North Carolina Forestry Association’s Pro-Logger Base Certification Course will be held in the auditorium of Haywood Community College March 14-16, 2007. The course will cover safety, the environment, and better-business practices and will include a half-day field tour of logging practices in Western North Carolina. Registration fees for the course are $200.
The North Carolina Forestry Association’s (NCFA) Pro-Logger Program has been North Carolina's logging industry standard certification since 1994. It is designed to improve the professionalism of timber harvesters through education and training in safety, business management, forest management and environmental issues.
Participants who complete the required 24 credit hours of training through local community colleges receive certification as a professional logger or Pro-Logger which is recognized by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and many mills throughout the state. Participants are required to receive additional continuing-education training to maintain Pro-Logger status.
For more information and registration, please contact Roger Pyle with the North Carolina Forestry Association at 919-834-3943.
