HCC Graduate’s Work Selected to be in Furniture Society’s New Book

Jacque Allen, 2006 Haywood Community College Professional Crafts—Wood graduate, recently had her work accepted by the Furniture Society to be represented in their new book, Studio Furniture, vol 5: The Meaning of Craft.

Allen’s work that was submitted was a desk that sold for $5000 at last year’s HCC graduate show. The desk was one of 42 entries from 25 colleges and universities from the United States, Canada, and the Netherlands. Only three community colleges were represented. The competition has been in existence for three years and HCC has placed student work in all three.
