Haywood Community College’s 2007 graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, May 11 at 7 p.m. The event will take place on the Clyde campus in the Charles M. Beall Auditorium, Student Services Building.

Over 375 students will receive certificates, diplomas, or degrees this year from HCC. Seating is limited to family and friends of graduates.

Dr. Lynne H. Barrett, a local psychologist, will be the commencement speaker. Dr. Barrett is a Pisgah high school graduate who received her bachelor’s degree from Western Carolina University. She received a master’s degree in community agency counseling and a doctoral degree in counseling psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In 2000, Dr. Barrett was certified as a licensed professional counselor and in 2002 was licensed as a North Carolina Psychologist. She is presently working in Waynesville in private practice with adolescents, adults, and couples.

Dr. Barrett is the President-Elect of the Waynesville Rotary Club, a member of the Haywood Community College Foundation Board of Directors, and a member of the United Way Board.

Master Teacher of the Year Award will also be presented at the ceremony. The Master Teacher Award is a distinguished teaching award presented to the full-time curriculum faculty member who most exemplifies excellence in teaching by demonstrating consistently excellent teaching, leadership, and service to the College and the community. The recipient is the College's nominee for the annual North Carolina Community College System/First Union Foundation’s Excellence in Teaching Award.
