HVO Nominated for 2007 Governor’s Excellence Award

Haywood Community College recently nominated Haywood Vocational Opportunities for the 2007 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Workforce Development for Outstanding Workforce Development Employer. Awards will be presented on October 18 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Nominations are based on numerous specifications such as how the business has positively contributed to the local/state economy and improved workforce training and employment opportunities; demonstrated a continuing commitment to the workforce development system through donation of employee time and services, exemplary hiring practices and the encouragement of business involvement in workforce development efforts; demonstrated involvement/use of public education training programs; promoted positive community/public relations for workforce development programs and supported/encouraged individuals in need of workforce development; improved workforce development opportunities for specific populations; and implemented and practiced employee-centered work practices.

The company provides high-quality products for customers locally, nationally, and internationally in the areas of disposable medical device goods, commercial packaging, and vinyl lettered graphic products.

HVO is designed to aid in the development of trainees’ fullest physical, social, vocational, mental, and economic usefulness. Participants are offered a variety of services, including vocational evaluation, work adjustment, school-to-work transition services, job training and placement services, and adult developmental services.
