Lake Junaluska Assembly - Conference & Retreat Center and Haywood Community College are proud to announce the creation of a partnership in the Arts. LJA has a long history of celebrating and honoring the creative spirit, and the beauty of its retreat setting is a catalyst for creativity in and of itself. HCC is known and respected far and wide for it's commitment to the creative arts - especially in the area of regional Arts and Crafts, having graduated a number of gifted and successful artists and arts entrepreneurs.
The LJA/HCC partnership is one of several ART & SOUL partnerships being nurtured by Lake Junaluska under the professional guidance of Roger Dowdy as Director of Event Development at the Conference Center, an artist and recent newcomer to the LJA leadership staff. Art & Soul partnerships will include institutions, organizations, and arts groups, as well as individual artists.
LJA and HCC are partnering to provide an outlet for regional artists on the LJA campus, particularly in the newest facility on the LJA campus - the Bethea Welcome Center, as well as the two SEJ Stores at the Conference Center. The outlets will include gallery venues, commercial settings, and performance settings all of which are open to the public. This is a great opportunity for HCC alumni artists to display and sell their pieces of work. The Haywood County Chamber of Commerce will also have an information area located in the Center.
