Haywood Community College’s Western Regional Fire Rescue Training Coordinator, Benjamin Lunsford, was recently co-instructor of the Ropes Rescue Technician Program offered by the NC Office of State Fire Marshal. This two week class was held through Brunswick Community College in Shallotte, North Carolina.

Through this intense class, students learned many aspects of advanced rope rescue techniques, including anchor systems, mechanical advantages, high lines, and victim packaging and removal techniques. These skills can be applied in both the urban and wilderness environment.
