Waynesville Disc Golf Club presents the 2008 Autumn Shootout. The tournament will be held on Saturday, November 1 at 9 a.m. at the Waynesville Disc Golf Course located at 550 Vance Street. This event is a fundraiser for the installation of an 18-hole disc golf course at Haywood Community College. The course will be used for physical education classes, campus recreation, tournaments, and will be free to the public.
The shootout is a bring-your-own-partner doubles tournament with two divisions; recreational and advanced. Waynesville Disc Golf Club will provide free barbeque to all players, sponsors, and volunteers. The tournament is open to everyone and no experience is required. Bring your own discs or play with the one you get just for registering.
HCC’s disc golf course will be a par 3 course and will be completed through the College Matching Baskets Program. This program is sponsored by the Disc Golf Foundation. Nine baskets are supplied free of charge if the college purchases nine baskets.
Plans are to complete the initial nine baskets by January with the last nine to be completed by summer. The course is a healthy way to incorporate almost two miles of walking across campus while enjoying the new sport.
All tournament sponsorships are considered in-kind donations to the HCC Foundation Disc Golf Fund and are tax deductible. The cost to participate in the 2008 Autumn Shootout is $50 per team.
