Haywood Community College President Dr. Rose Johnson was recently elected as a new commissioner for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Commissioners are responsible for determining policy and guiding the accreditation process.
The election of new commissioners was made at the SACS-Commission on Colleges Annual meeting held in early December in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Johnson will serve a three-year term as one of seventy-two members of the SACS Commission.
The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Latin America and other international sites.
