Haywood Early College students recently participated in an exercise called Excursion into Entrepreneurship. Representatives from the North Carolina REAL Enterprises were on campus to teach the students an introduction to target marketing. The class was possible through funds from a mini-grant from the HCC Foundation.
The students were divided into groups and asked to market a bottle of water to 15 different groups such as stay at home moms, members of the military, middle school students, athletes, tourists, college students, senior citizens, or, high school students.
Dr. Tony Johnson, Executive Director of NC REAL, stressed the importance of learning these skills. “Entrepreneurial skills are something you will use from now on,” he told the students during the day-long session.
