Haywood Community College will hold a free Jammin’ at the Mill Pond Celebration on Saturday, August 29. The bluegrass jammin’ session will be held on the main campus from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. HCC instructor David Burnette will demonstrate how to make molasses. The cane to be used is currently being grown on the HCC campus and was started in the greenhouse by HCC Horticulture students.

Several HCC alumni businesses as well as student clubs will have booths available for demonstration and with items to purchase.

The Hominy Valley Boys will be headlining the event with participation from several other area bluegrass bands including Hill Country. Food will be available to purchase. Area musicians are welcome to bring their instruments to join in the jammin’ sessions.

The first graduating class of Forestry students from HCC's Class of 1969 will be having a lunch reception from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Student Services building during the event to celebrate their 40th class reunion. Graduates, their family and friends, and alumni are all invited.
