Haywood Community College faculty and student tutors offer many free ways to help students succeed. In addition to the Teaching and Learning Center, the college offers math and writing labs throughout the semester. The Math Support Lab now has computers for use while students complete their homework. Both faculty, who volunteer their time, and student tutors are available to help students in the lab.
In addition, the Writing Lab is manned completely by faculty volunteers. English faculty members donate time each week to proofread papers, assist in the writing process, and provide tutoring in grammar. Margaret Studenc, HCC Developmental Education Coordinator, is also conducting a weekly grammar workshop on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. in room 327.
Another resource that is available to students is the Teaching and Learning Center. The HCC tutor program helps students understand coursework better while inspiring them to succeed and believe in themselves. Student, faculty, staff, and community tutors volunteer at the center. In addition to math and English, help is available in science. The Teaching and Learning Center is available to students Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Fridays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
