It’s not too late to register for spring classes at Haywood Community College. Late registration is Thursday, January 7 from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Friday, January 8 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. First day of classes is Monday, January 11. A complete schedule of classes as well as an application is available online.

New this semester is a course in Military Leadership. The course will teach students to become a leader among their peers and in the community. The course will rely heavily on labs such as paintball and rappelling that will allow students to apply the skills they learn. Students will view movies such as Black Hawk Down, The 300, and When We were Soldiers.

Courses are also available in Green Building and Low Impact Development. Students in these areas of study will get hands-on experience working on the Research Demonstration House that is being built on campus in cooperation with the USDA Forest Products Laboratory.
