Haywood Community College’s Continuing Education Division will offer an evening upholstery class beginning on October 11 and continuing until February 28, 2011. The class will be on Monday and Tuesday nights from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Upholstery instructor Lani Hendrix has taught upholstery for the college for over 25 years. She first came to HCC as an upholstery student. “I love to take something beat up and make it look new,” she said. “Sometimes customers can’t believe it. It’s rewarding to see their faces.”
Hendrix began her history at HCC as a student at Patton School. She has taught for over 25 years. She also has a shop at her home in Allens Creek.
The upholstery class at HCC encourages students to begin on a simple project and progress to more complicated projects. Hendrix works on a one-on-one basis at students’ individual paces.
Cost of the class is $175. For more information call, (828) 565-4244. To register for this class, call 627-4500.
