The Small Business Center of Haywood Community College will offer a free seminar entitled “Becoming a More Effective Non-Profit Board” on Thursday, November 4, from 6-8 pm, on campus in the Student Center, first floor.
Serving on the board of a nonprofit is not something to be taken lightly. Board members need to know the basic responsibilities and expectations to function effectively. What should you look for before making a decision to serve on a non-profit board? The presenter is Don Wells. Wells is a former Director of Duke University’s Certificate Program in Nonprofit Management as well as Director of Duke’s Annual Institute in Nonprofit Leadership. He works annually with both the Nicholas School of the Environment’s Doris Duke Fellows program and the DEL-MEM program, and is presently the lead consultant of DonWellsConsulting, Inc. of Cedar Grove, North Carolina.
