Haywood Community College’s Small Business Center and the Greater Haywood Chamber of Commerce have partnered to offer a free seminar on “Doing Business with the Government” on Thursday, December 16 from 10 am until noon. It will be held on campus in the Student Center, first floor From the experts, business owners will discover how to: Get the basics of contracting, including identifying sales opportunities; evaluate federal and state solicitations for jobs; register your business; find assistance resources; understand the bid process; match your firm with the various SBA and other federal contracting preference programs to maximize your firm's marketability, including: the SBA 8(a) Program, the SBA HUBZone program, women's contracting opportunities, veteran and service-disabled veteran contracting opportunities; tap into the SBA surety bond guaranty program. Featured presenters: Clark Fields, Procurement Technical Assistance Counselor with the NC SBTDC/Procurement Technical Assistance Center and Mike Arriola, Senior Area Manager, U.S. Small Business Administration.
