Children at Haywood Community College’s Regional Center for the Advancement of Children don’t have to travel far to visit a pumpkin patch. They have one in their backyard. Pictured clockwise from the left are students from the center: Addison Bush, Alexander Wenzel, Blake Banfield, Connor Song, and Mariah Clark. The pumpkin patch is one of the many unique features offered at the center. With low child to staff ratios, the center offers a creative curriculum open to all families in the area. This five star facility serves ages birth up to five years and offers a North Carolina PreK program. In addition, subsidy vouchers are accepted. Hours for the center are 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Extended hours are available if there is a demand. This family-friendly facility offers nutritious meals and snacks, as well as a creative curriculum. New playgrounds featuring natural elements are coming in 2012.
