Haywood Community College’s 2011-12 Student Government Association selected a tree planting as their legacy project. The project is a legacy left by the SGA to future students that will improve or enhance the campus. This year’s students decided to plant Lace-Bark Elms along the recently upgraded Vocational Drive. The project fits into the focus of sustainability across campus. These elms are the first of their kind on the HCC campus. Students from across campus joined with the HCC Arboretum team to plant these trees. This project was completed in partnership with Low Impact Development students and a special grant from Pigeon River Fund.
