Haywood Community College Criminal Justice students in Lambda Eta Chi found a unique way to reverse the roles on local law enforcement leaders. Through a Jail and Bail fundraiser, various leading law enforcement officers including the police chiefs of Canton and Waynesville and the Haywood County sheriff, were mock arrested, read a warrant, placed under bond, and thrown in ‘jail’ until they raised their bail money. The money came from donations in the community and resulted in $800 for the students to use to attend the American Criminal Justice Association National Conference later this month in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.
