Haywood Community College quilting students recently completed a class assignment where each one of them made a unique quilt square as a paper piecing project. They decided to piece the blocks together and create a one-of-a-kind quilt. The students sold tickets to a drawing for the quilt raising more than $1,800 to go to Ronald McDonald House. According to its website, the Ronald McDonald House program provides a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child who is seriously ill or injured at little or no cost. Michael Stahl was winner of the quilt. Pictured left to right are:  Stahl, student Deloras Rathbone, student Connie Nelson, quilting instructor Lani Hendrix, and student Barbara Watson.
