Free Lecture! Open to the public: Haywood Community College Professional Crafts Visiting Artist series welcomes artist, educator and recent Penland resident Rachel Meginnes. Meginnes will present a free lecture at 4 pm on Thursday, September 15th in the Creative Arts Building in Room 7105.
This lecture will cover Meginnes’ interest in applied vs theoretical knowledge particularly in context of the arts. She will also discuss her thoughtful and innovative artwork and how it has evolved alongside her approach as an educator. Meginnes is a working studio artist who has trained as a weaver and now integrates myriad materials in her methodical approach to her work. She has recently completed a three year residency at Penland School of Crafts.
HCC Continuing Education Creative Arts offers continuing education classes and workshops in clay, fiber, metals, wood, and music, as well as design and computer classes. These classes are year-round and open to the public.
