Haywood Community College is offering three free events in October to aid in student success. For current students, an HCC counselor will take interested students who are planning to transfer or are considering transferring to the University of North Carolina-Asheville or Western Carolina University on a College Road Trip to tour the two campuses. In a separate event, college financial aid representatives will assist current and potential students with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at FAFSA Day.

The first College Road Trip will visit the campus of WCU on Thursday, October 13 at 1 p.m. In addition to touring the campus, students will meet the Dean of each of the colleges. On Wednesday, October 26, the second College Road Trip will take students to the campus of the University of North Carolina-Asheville at 1 p.m. Each Road Trip will take last about 4 hours.

There are three ways to register for these road trips-register online at College Transfer Counseling; call 627-4646; or email drowland@haywood.edu.

HCC will hold FAFSA Day on Saturday, October 29 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. in Student Services Building 1500 on the second floor. Financial aid specialists will assist students in the completion and the electronic submission of their FAFSA forms. The program is open to individuals who plan to attend college in the 2017-18 academic year.

Your 2015 tax information will be required. Since 2015 taxes have already been filed, most students and families will be able to use the Data Retrieval Tool that will be prompted on the FAFSA. The student and one parent must have a FSA ID required to sign the FAFSA. This ID can be generated at fsaid.ed.gov. For more information about FAFSA Day at HCC, please call 627-4509.
