The Haywood Community College Foundation, along with the Financial Aid office, recently held a Scholarship Luncheon at the Canton Armory as a way to recognize donors and allow student recipients to meet those who generously give.
At the event, HCC President, Dr. Barbara Parker addressed the donors by saying, “Thank you for your commitment to our students. Without your assistance, it would be very difficult for these students to attend college.”
More than 70% of HCC students who apply for scholarships receive at least one. In 2015-16, more than 98 scholarships were offered with almost 300 students awarded over $218,000. Scholarships are available for Curriculum, Workforce Continuing Education, High School Equivalency, and College & Career Readiness students.
Erika Munoz, HCC Nursing student and scholarship recipient says, “I appreciate this opportunity. I aim to prove to the Foundation that I intend to not only succeed but also to make my community proud. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to show my potential. You won’t regret it!”
