Haywood Community College takes special care in preparing college transfer students for the next step in their educational journey. In both fall and spring semesters, HCC organizes college road trips where these students can choose to accompany a representative of HCC to Western Carolina University or the University of North Carolina at Asheville. Both trips include an up-close look at life at these local colleges and what to expect on the subsequent step in the educational journey.

HCC’s college transfer programs include an Associate in Arts degree and Associate in Science degree. All courses in these degree programs are designed to give students a solid, well‐rounded foundation in the arts and the sciences before going on to four‐year institutions where they will take the remainder of their course work to complete their bachelor’s degree. For students at HCC who successfully complete one of these transfer programs and continue their education at a four-year school in the University of North Carolina System, they will transfer in as a junior.

In addition to the road trips, HCC hosts a Community College Transfer Day where college representatives come on campus to provide information about their respective schools.

These events are held to serve as a planning tool to HCC’s College Transfer students so that they can make the best decisions for their future. For more information about HCC’s College Transfer programs, please call, 627-4579.
