Haywood Community College will participate in the Big Sweep Stream Cleanup Saturday, September 16, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. This is an annual one day event to clean up litter along North Carolina’s waterways. Volunteers of all ages are welcome. This is an excellent way to give back and help Haywood County stay beautiful.
HCC students and faculty have assisted with this effort for over 25 years. Students in the Natural Resources Department and Haywood Waterways Association volunteers will lead the way in efforts along Richland Creek from the Waynesville Recreation Park to Lake Junaluska. Volunteers should plan to meet to organize at 8:30 a.m. at the Bi-Lo Grocery Store parking lot off Russ Avenue in Waynesville.
For more information, call (828) 627-4592 or email email@example.com. A picnic lunch will be provided after the cleanup courtesy of Haywood Waterways Association.
