The 2018 Haywood Community College Medical Assisting Pinning Ceremony was held recently at the College’s Beall Auditorium. The valedictorian was Kurt Cope. The salutatorian was Sally Creech.
HCC’s medical assisting program prepares graduates to be a key component in keeping busy medical offices and clinics running smoothly. In the field, these graduates have a great amount of variety in their job duties and are cross-trained to perform administrative, clinical and laboratory duties.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of medical assistants is projected to grow 29 percent from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations.
The graduates for spring 2018 are Jamie Bernal, Lyndsie Boone, Kelli Carver, Kurt Cope, Sally Creech, Cody Cutshaw, Carmelita Gamez, Brittney Green, Ashlyn Gunter, Jodie Hughes, Angie Jones, Amber Knarr, Briana Mashburn, Michael Morris, Courtney Mouhourtis and Jess Owens.
