One year after from graduating from D’Youville College in Buffalo, New York, classmates Dr. Joe Colasuonno and Dr. Zeke Watts have a firm foundation started with their own chiropractic business in downtown Waynesville. Family Circle Chiropractic is the culmination of a dream for the two young doctors who were classmates, roommates and friends.

The pair worked as graduate assistants together and found that they had a good working relationship to complement their friendship. Both wanting the same kind of practice where they can spend the time to get to know their patients, provide them with help and teach them rehabilitative exercises to manage on their own, Family Circle Chiropractic was born.

“We use science and evidence-based applications to provide the best care to our patients,” Dr. Watts explains.

For Dr. Watts, he has wanted to be a chiropractor since the age of 10 when chiropractic care helped him resolve neck issues.

Similarly, Dr. Colasuonno aspired to be a chiropractor since the age of nine watching his mother experience instant pain relief at the hands of a chiropractor. “It’s rewarding to watch patients come to tears when they have relief,” he explains. “Sometimes they have dealt with this pain for years.”

Dr. Watts grew up in Asheville and Dr. Colasuonno grew up in a very small town in New York. Landing in Haywood County felt like home to both doctors. “It made good business sense to start a practice here,” Dr. Colasuonno says. “Everything just fell into place.”

While Dr. Watts spent time as practice manager before the pair opened their own business, they realized they needed some business expertise to help them get off the ground. They turned to Katy Gould at Haywood Community College’s Small Business Center.

“The support we received from Katy has been great,” Dr. Watts says. “She helped us with everything from figuring out our business plan to working with the different marketing segments. We work with patients of all ages and they all have different needs.”

“Katy would bring up things that we needed to work on that we hadn’t thought of,” Dr. Colasuonno explains.

Drs. Colasuonno and Watts were recently awarded the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals of the Year award. Family Circle Chiropractic strives to provide the best care available for patients. They are located at 627 North Main Street, Suite 2 in Waynesville.
