The Haywood Community College Foundation recently started a new endowed scholarship named the Linda Jane Wansker Hull Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was established from the estate of her late husband Paul.

The Hulls’ led a unique life and between the two, made their mark in many career fields. Linda was a surgical nurse, travel guide writer, advertising copywriter, associate professor of English and custom jewelry designer. Her work in pointillism brought her international acclaim.

Paul was self-taught in many fields. He held jobs with the US Bureau of Indian Affairs, NASA, as a restaurant critic and jewelry designer.

According to family friend, Gary Columbia, “The Hulls threw themselves into whatever they wanted and became immersed in people’s lives.”

Columbia says the Hulls retired to Canton later in life and only drove onto the HCC campus a few times. “The couple wanted to change student’s lives in a small town,” he explains. “They were generous people. It was little to them but life changing to others.”
