Donated photo. The Haywood Community College Student Chapter of the Wildlife Society recently received the Forrest E. Jarrett Wildlife Conservation Award at the Marshall Depot in Marshall, NC. A group of wildlife enthusiasts presents this award annually. The 2019 award consisted of a plaque and a check for $3,000 to support the 2020 Southeastern Wildlife Conclave. HCC is co-hosting the Conclave with Western Carolina University in March 2020. The Forrest E. Jarrett Award is named for retired railroad law enforcement officer Forrest E. Jarrett. Jarrett, pictured in blue jacket, presented the award and check to Garrett McCarson (pictured in plaid shirt), HCC student and Wildlife Society President.  Student officers and advisors of the HCC student chapter of The Wildlife Society attended along with College faculty and staff.
