Haywood Community College 2008 Associate in Arts and 2015 Networking Technology graduate Luke Cullen is putting both degrees to work in southern Alabama. As an Information Technology Specialist, he helps ensure that PowerSouth Energy Cooperative’s technology system runs smoothly to provide power to south Alabama and northwest Florida.

In addition, Cullen is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from North Greenville University in Christian Ministries. He moved with his wife and three children to pursue ministry.

While at HCC, Cullen says that the small class sizes were a good match for him. “The faculty and staff were all supportive,” he explains. “All of my professors were knowledgeable in their field and would not hesitate to help in any way they could.”

Cullen states that he was able to start right into core classes when he transferred to a four-year school. “HCC also helped me with online classes. Learning the format is still helping me today as I am taking an online program for a Bachelor’s degree.”

At PowerSouth, Cullen’s typical workday includes helping users with printers/copiers, computers, email and toner cartridges. He says his job is customer-service oriented and he works to resolve all problems that arise.
