The Haywood Community College Foundation held its fourth Shine & Dine Gala at the Laurel Ridge Country Club recently. This year’s event, with Haywood Regional Medical Center as presenting sponsor, netted approximately $23,000 for the College’s advanced manufacturing and automotive programs. These programs produce skilled graduates who are in high demand. Jobs in these industries offer competitive wages and advancement opportunities for HCC students.

The evening began with demonstrations by advanced manufacturing instructors with a high-tech robot. Guests also had the opportunity to view cars that students have worked to restore as well as vehicles from graduates. An HCC graduate and a current student gave their perspective on what impact an education from HCC makes on their lives.

“The students, faculty and staff of HCC are grateful for the wonderful support from our community for the advanced manufacturing and automotive programs,” College President Dr. Barbara Parker says. “We are appreciative of the generous people that surround us! With the help of our donors, the College is able to enhance the education these students receive.”

Throughout the evening, guests had the opportunity to participate in a wine pull and silent auction that included gift items from the local community, as well as from HCC faculty and staff. All proceeds from the gala will go toward the College’s advanced manufacturing and automotive programs.
