June is FAFSA Frenzy Month in North Carolina. Completing the Free Application for Scholarships and Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) could be the first step to free or affordable college.

Last year, 36% of North Carolina high school seniors did not complete a FAFSA and as a result, left an estimated $89 million in Pell Grants on the table. The College Foundation of North Carolina offers a variety of support services for filling out a FAFSA.

At Haywood Community College, most financial aid is awarded on the basis of need as determined by the FAFSA.  Students must complete the FAFSA to be considered for any financial aid including state grants and Scholarships.
