Haywood Community College Phi Theta Kappa students recognized at regional conference

Haywood Community College has a strong Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) student club on campus and this has not gone unrecognized at a recent regional conference.

The Carolinas Region of Phi Theta Kappa held their annual conference in March, and colleges and groups from across the region attended to engage with like-minded peers.

Three HCC students attended the conference. These students included Josie Rodriguez (Chapter President), Alissa Holmes, and SØrin Brunson. Dr. Veronica Dooly, HCC’s Information Technology teacher and club advisor, joined the students at this conference.

The amazing gala event followed all the sessions and networking opportunities at the conference. This event included dedicated time to recognize and celebrate all those who have made a valuable contribution to the club over this past year. HCC is excited to announce that our group received three recognitions and two awards. These included:

  • Lisa Beth Crouch: Transfer Edge Program completion
  • Veronica Dooly: Advisor Edge Program completion
  • Veronica Dooly: Regional PTK Advisory Board member
  • HCC: Most Improved Chapter
  • HCC: Three Star Level for the Five-Star Chapter Plan

The Phi Theta Kappa club on campus has been quite active this past year. The club leaders have planned study group sessions with some fun elements incorporated and have participated on HCC’s podcast, Bobcat Chat. The club members are excited to continue engaging with students and sharing the amazing benefits of being a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
