Carolina Heritage Weekend

Carolina Heritage Weekend is a multi-day event celebrating Appalachian heritage and hosted by a collaboration of dining, creative, and performing arts organizations. We want to bring the heritage of our area to life for guests of the region over the course of a weekend.

The Welldrinkers

To kick off the weekend, Folkmoot will be hosting The Welldrinkers as part of the Folkmoot Live concert series. This event will be held in the Folkmoot Queen Auditorium at 7pm on Thursday, April 18.

Friday, April 19

Bluegrass All-Stars

Don't miss the amazing talents of the Evening of Music Featuring the Bluegrass All-Stars in the auditorium at Haywood Community College. This all-star group features members including Shawn Lane, Aubrey haynie, Ron Stewart, Aaron Ramsey and Darren Nicholson.

Darren Nicholson is a GRAMMY nominee and winner of 13 International Bluegrass Music Association awards, Darren Nicholson has taken his own brand of mountain music around the world. A regular for years on the Grand Ole Opry out of Nashville Tennessee, and a founding member of acclaimed bluegrass group Balsam Range, Darren now spends his time recording, writing new songs, and performing. You can catch Darren almost every week sharing the music he loves somewhere, traveling both nationally and internationally - as a solo artist, with his own Darren Nicholson Band, or in collaboration with other musicians. With more new music on the way, Darren is booking now for the 2024 season and beyond.

Tickets are free but we need you to reserve your spots to have an accurate headcount for an amazing experience.

Food trucks will be onsite for guests to purchase food. Doors open at 6pm, show starts at 7pm.

Mountain Market & Haywood Made

On Saturday, April 20, the Carolina Heritage Weekend is capped off with two amazing events. Join Downtown Waynesville and The Shelton house for the Mountain Market featuring crafts and demonstrations showcasing Appalachian heritage from 10am - 4pm.

The Haywood Regional Arts Council will be hosting Haywood Made at The 37 which will feature amazing food and an artistic experience you won't forget.
