Summer and Fall Registration Now Open

Summer and Fall semester registration at Haywood Community College is now open. Whether it’s time to start your educational journey or pick up where you left off, HCC is here to support your needs to Shape Your New Future! Summer courses begin Monday, June 6 and fall courses start Monday, August 15.

With over 30 curricular programs in 9 different career clusters, students can pursue a certificate, diploma or associate degree at a fraction of the cost of a four-year school. Students can enjoy small classes sizes which result in one-on-one attention.

HCC offers a variety of courses delivered in an array of methods to fit all schedules. From in-person to entirely online, the College has what students need to create a flexible schedule for those who are employed or may also be balancing a family, making it easy to get the credentials needed to move forward.

Starting in the fall 2022 term, HCC will be offering new delivery methods, including Hyflex. For this option, students will have a set day and time for class but with the option of joining in person or online. Evening times will be available. In addition, students can choose a Synchronous Online option. This allows students to learn online from any location while offering the advantages of live classroom interaction with faculty and other students.

“HCC is committed to helping students succeed in all phases of their lives,” explains Wendy Hines, HCC Vice President of Instruction. “We understand that attending college in the traditional format may not work for all students. HCC offers courses in a variety of formats to help students maintain work, life, and school balance. The new course formats allow students the flexibility of learning online while engaging with faculty and other students.”

Don’t let cost be an obstacle. With a combination of funding sources, attending HCC could be at no cost. Through the generosity of donors, HCC has a variety of scholarship opportunities available to students.

The HCC Tuition Free Guarantee will pay for up to four semesters at the in-state tuition rate for any 2022 qualifying high school graduate (public, private, homeschool, or HCC High School Equivalency graduate) from Haywood County who does not obtain the full amount needed through federal financial aid and/or scholarships. The guarantee will be applicable for up to two years (fall & spring semesters only) of enrollment as long as the student continues to meet our predefined criteria.

In addition, the Longleaf Commitment Grant is available for 2022 North Carolina high school graduates. There is not a separate application for this grant. Consideration for funding is automatic once the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is filed and local college verification is completed.

According to HCC President Dr. Shelley White, “We encourage everyone interested in attending and concerned about cost to complete the FAFSA. Through a combination of funding sources, most students qualify to have tuition, fees, and other costs fully covered or greatly reduced. Now is a great time to start your new future!”
