2024 Paramedic Graduation

18 graduates and their instructor from the paramedic class Haywood Community College recently graduated 18 students from the Paramedic class. This is an intensive 1,300-hour program spanning 13 months to prepare these students for what they may face on the road or at the scene of the call.

Of the 18 graduates, 17 of them have already accepted employment to join the workforce. The 2023-2024 class is also the largest class that HCC has graduated to date.

Awards were given to students and instructors during the ceremony. The top academic award was given to Jonathan Ball. Kurt Wamsley and Megan Trantham received awards for Top Preceptor of the Year. Instructors Barry Coward and Ashley Worley were recognized with Outstanding Instructor awards.

President of Haywood Community College, Dr. Shelley White shares, “Our graduates have not only completed the challenging training that is required but have demonstrated a strong commitment to bring hope in the most critical moments. We are confident they will serve with dedication, professionalism, and compassion in every response encountered.”

Paramedic graduates can enter the workforce with their credential to work for a local agency and also use this as a steppingstone to further their educational journey such as attendance at a medical school or entering a nursing program.

The next class is already underway, and Haywood Community College looks forward to graduating these students and preparing them to serve our community.
