SBC Agribusiness Webinar

 

The Small Business Center at Haywood Community College will offer a free "Empowering Mountain Food Systems - Agribusiness" webinar series. A four-part series designed to address the unique needs of current and prospective agribusinesses, the webinars are offered in coordination with EmPOWERing Mountain Food Systems, Southwestern Community College Small Business Center and Tri-County Community College Small Business Center.

The series will begin with Farm Funding with NRCS, FSA and NC Ag Options, Thursday, January 21, 9-10 a.m.

This session will cover the diverse funding opportunities available to new and established farming operations. Attendees will get answers to key questions, including:  How can these agencies support your farm revenue, infrastructure and marketing efforts? And, is your farming operation eligible will be addressed?

Liability for On-Farm Visits will be held Wednesday, February 10, 9-10 a.m.

When folks visit your farm, there are key decisions to make about farm safety, signage, and activities. Farm insurance companies provide excellent guidance on how to manage visitors. In this session, we'll discuss options to keep your business protected and your visitors safe.

Farmland Transition will be held Friday, March 19, 9-10 a.m.

Tips, Tools and Resources for You and Your Farm. Farm transition is an important issue for family farmers. In this session you will learn about NC FarmLink, a NCSU Extension Program that helps farmers find ways to keep their land in production using leasing and ownership options that keep farms active and intact.

Agritourism will be held Wednesday, April 28, 9-10 a.m.

Agritourism can bring a diversified funding stream to your farm. Thinking beyond UPICK and corn mazes, in this session, we will share regional examples of successful ventures including farm stays, school group visits, educational tours, and more.
