SBC Building Nonprofit Resiliency Virtual Summit
The Small Business Center at Haywood Community College will offer a free four-part Building Nonprofit Resiliency Summit, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Wednesday, February 24 – Thursday, February 25. Designed specifically for nonprofit organizations, this two-day virtual summit featuring the Funding for Good team will provide registrants the opportunity to attend from the comfort of their home or virtual work station.
The Spring Summit will include creative ideas, solutions, and strategies to help nonprofits be more effective and increase impact. Topics will include Fundraising, Program Creation, and Strategic Planning. Also included are two sessions directly focused on grants.
Sessions will include:
Strategic Planning: The Beginning-Wednesday, February 24, 9-11 a.m. Statistics confirm that implementing a strategic plan nearly DOUBLES a business's chance of success! This workshop is designed to simplify the planning process and provide participants with actionable steps at all stages of strategic plan development.
Funding for Good's experts will highlight key components of a successful plan and share a variety of strategies to effectively capture the voices of the board, staff, and community in the final product. This workshop offers a roadmap for nonprofits who want an overview of strategic planning from start to finish, as well as some practical tools to use along the way.
Program Designs that Pack a Punch-Wednesday, February 24, 1-3 p.m. Are you ready to launch a new program or revamp an existing one? Before you overcommit your time or dollars, join Funding for Good for a master's class focused on program/project design. Participants will gain the knowledge and tools needed to design programs/projects that are effective and efficient.
Learn best practices to grow mission-focused programs that generate awareness, impact, capacity, and community support. Experts will engage participants in the program design process from A-Z to ensure key questions, budgeting, and program impact goals are addressed.
Grant Writing 101-Thursday, February 25, 9-11 a.m. As funding becomes more difficult to secure, nonprofit organizations face significant challenges to fulfill their missions. This seminar reviews the questions nonprofits need to answer prior to searching and applying for grant funds, outlines the seven basic elements of most proposals, and shows participants how to match their needs to funder priorities. Participants focus on the major questions that need to be answered prior to a grant application and incorporating these answers into research and ultimately a competitive proposal.
Grant Research-Thursday, February 25, 1-3 p.m. Are you wanting to apply for grant funds to help support your nonprofit but are having a hard time finding the grants? This workshop is for you!
Designed to help participants learn the details needed to begin research, this workshop will explain how to conduct successful grant research and the skill set to help save time in searches to actually begin writing. Participants will learn the details needed before beginning any research, management of research to make efficient use of time, how to locate available grants on the local, state and government levels, how to navigate organizational websites to locate funding opportunities, grant databases and other resources that fit specific needs, as well as pitfalls to avoid that will save time and cut down on frustration while working to locate funders whose priorities match your needs.
