Career & College Promise

The Career and College Promise program offers a way earn college and high school credits simultaneously! With college degree and technical education paths available, we have something for every high school student. This program begins during the student’s junior year with dual credit programs taught on high school campuses as well as here at Haywood Community College. Students have the opportunity to meet two graduation requirements, both in high school and college, allowing them to save time and money.

Highlights of the Program

  • Tuition Free 
  • Available to High School juniors and seniors 
  • Grades earned during dual enrollment will become part of the student’s college transcript 
  • Transportation to and from the high school to HCC is not provided

Career Technical Education pathways

  • Accounting & Finance 
  • Certificate in Automotive Systems Technology (Basic & Intermediate)
  • Certificate in Business Administration
  • Certificate in Business Administration – Marketing
  • Certificate in Collision Repair & Refinishing
  • Certificate in Computer-Integrated Machining
  • Certificate in Criminal Justice Technology (I & II, III & IV)
  • Certificate in Early Childhood-Preschool
  • Certificate in Electrical Systems Technology
  • Certificate in Electronics Engineering Technology
  • Certificate in Forest Management Technology
  • Certificate in Information Technology-Cyber Security
  • Certificate in Medical Office Administration 

Homeschooled Students

Home-schooled students are considered for enrollment on the same basis as North Carolina public school students. Documentation must also be provided to show that the home school is registered with the appropriate state agency. An official transcript from the home school must include the following criteria: 

  • Name of the home school and address
  • Name of the principal
  • Name of the student
  • Student’s social security number (optional) and birth date
  • Curriculum and courses taken each year with grades and a grade point average
  • Cumulative grade point average for total progress
  • Diploma awarded with graduation date; and
  • Notarized seal and official signature
