Pottery: Glazed and (Not) Confused

Close-up abstract texture with layered streaks of turquoise and deep blue paint, with darker speckles and vertical brush-like drips throughout.

Instructor: Christina Bendo

Location: Sycamore Bdg, RM 7221

If you are interested in learning more about glazes but not sure where to start, this class is for you! We will talk about the basics of what makes up a glaze, how to read and mix up a glaze recipe, and how to add colorants to make your own custom hues! We’ll also cover how to make colored slips for decorating your pots. We will not be making any pots, but students will leave with a paint chip style collection of glaze test tiles and a collection of glaze and slip recipes for further experimentation. Students should come to class with an N-95 dust mask and something to take notes on.
