Pottery Around the World: the Americas
Instructor: Christina Bendo
Location: Sycamore Bdg, RM 7221
Come on a journey through the sands of time to explore the fascinating history of pottery in the Middle East. Make beads and pendants out of the oldest type of glazed ceramic in existence, learn about Mesopotamian seals and clay envelopes, see the pots of ancient Iran, make a 1st Century oil lamp, and study Islamic ceramic tile and pottery. Each class will begin with a short slide presentation about a culture and its ceramics followed by work time to make pieces inspired by what we've learned.
