Fabric Collage & Sculpture

Have you ever wanted to play with fabric and create an art quilt composed of cloth and beads and baubles representing your memories, your story, and your images; culminating in a work of fabric art that is unique to you and your life? Come join us in the studio spaces of HCC and learn the techniques of hand embroidery, hand stitching, and hand applique.

Fabric Collage

We will learn to balance planning our designs and art making processes with intuition and improvisation. Experience sharing, creative support, guidance, and problem-solving with others at the community table learning about fabric collage, quilting, and designing with repurposed fabrics—all culminating in a beautifully unique art quilt of your own design.

Fabric Sculpture

Learn the techniques of stitching a pamphlet book together after beautifully decorating the book pages with fabric collage and a variety of embroidery stitches. Apply hand applique to the fabric covering your glass bottle. Curl, roll, and stitch fabric together to create fabric beads. We will learn to balance planning our designs and art making processes with intuition and improvisation. Experience sharing and instructional support in learning a variety of fabric art techniques which culminate in three 3D works of fiber art.
