Sewing: Upcycled Weekend

scissors and garment drawing with other sewing items on a deskInstructor: Amanda Porter

Location: Oak Building, upstairs

Similar to our more in depth Upcycled Garments class but in a condensed weekend retreat! The purpose of this Sustainable Sewing class is to learn how you can create unique garments for yourself or to sell using preloved and reclaimed materials. This can include any textile that is unwanted or vintage such as tablecloths, sheets, trims, etc., all without using a sewing pattern.

You can choose to make a dress, skirt, tunic top, loose pants, pinafore or a coat. You may be able to make more than one garment.

Even if you're new to sewing, you can do this class. We'll be using simple straight or zigzag stitches. Collaborate with new friends while learning a skill that you can teach others and may even become a lifetime passion.

Space is extremely limited. Please check the materials list for the tools you'll need to bring with you. Bring your own sewing machine or use ours!
