Beginning Basketry

Designed for the beginning basket maker, this class will give you the tools and techniques needed to create your own basket collection. Students will learn how to read patterns, prepare materials, weave a basket and finish it properly. In the first class you will learn to make a simple square to round Napkin Basket. For each subsequent basket, you will build on that basic knowledge and add a new element or technique. Students can expect to make a minimum of four baskets during this class using a variety of skills from traditional and contemporary basket making.

Tools to bring: bucket or tub for soaking reeds, ruler or tape measure, cutting shears, pencil, alw or ice pick, towel and/or apron, spray bottle and utility knife for scraping rims.
